B.Tech Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering
Vels School of Maritime Studies offers the Four year “Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering”, course which is one among the most in-demand courses in the world. 90% of global trade is through shipping industry. Students/professionals looking for shore-based jobs in Maritime sector, are encouraged to join the course and become an qualified professional Naval Architect & Offshore engineer which involves acquiring knowledge through class room instructions, learning Ship design software’s, demonstration of practical knowledge through various workshop and laboratories, and real-time exposure through shipyard visits/Internship. Naval Architects & Offshore Engineers has wide job opportunities who can be involved throughout the lifecycle of Marine structures, such as Design, Construction, Repair, Marketing and Sales, Operations, Regulation, Surveying and Overseeing, Research and Development, Owner’s Representatives, Various prestigious positions in Defence, Classification societies. After completing this course the students are eligible to do one year Graduate Marine Engineering Course and join Merchant Vessels.
Eligibility Criteria:
Regular (4 Year): Passed 10+2 examination with Physics/ Mathematics / Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Engineering Graphics Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.
OR
Passed min. 3 years Diploma Engineering examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.
Lateral Entry (to Second Year):
Passed Minimum THREE years / TWO years (Lateral Entry) Diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in ANY branch of Engineering and Technology.
OR
Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and also passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject.
OR
Passed D.Voc. Stream in the same or allied sector.
(The Universities will offer suitable bridge courses such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering drawing, etc., for the students coming from diverse backgrounds to achieve desired learning outcomes of the programme).
Age Limit : Maximum 25 years on the date of commencement of the course.
Non-Residential course (on request hostel accommodation may be provided).
