B.Sc Nautical
Science
The
three-year B.Sc Nautical Science course
is conducted by vels University approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.
It is a course leading to Second
Mates Foreign-Going Certificate of Competency
awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, Government
of India, after 12 months of sea service,
enabling the cadets to become Navigating
Officers on board Merchant Naval ships anywhere
in the world. The three-year B.Sc.,Nautical
Science course is strictly residential.
The syllabus is specially drawn up to give
broad based maritime education, with special
emphasis on fundamentals of maritime subjects
and practical aspects of the profession.
The educational and training programme is
designed to inculcate officer like qualities
and a high sense of discipline in the cadets.
Entry Requirements
:
Academic Standards : A
pass in 10+2 or its equivalent examination
with minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry
and Mathematics group, and atleast 50% in
English at 10th or 12th standard, Qualified in IMUCET is mandatory.
Age : "Maximum 25 years on the date of commencement of the course." (Age relaxation for SC & ST as per DGS Guidelines).
Medical Standard : Candidates
should be physically fit for sea service
under standard norms, with eyesight 6/6,
and with no colour blindness.
